950 conversations, 650 miles, 14 days: you are never alone

Isolation can feel like an impossible distance to bridge. When you are struggling, even reaching out to a friend across the room can feel like a marathon.

That is why on 23rd September 2027, The 950 Movement is hitting the pavement to prove that connection is always within reach. We are walking 650 miles from the northern tip of Scotland all the way back home—and every step is dedicated to ensuring no one has to walk through the dark by themselves.

650 Miles, 14 Days, Countless Conversations: Our Journey from John O'Groats to Leighton Buzzard

Walking from John O'Groats to Leighton Buzzard isn't just about putting one foot in front of the other for 650 miles. It’s about the people we meet along the way, the stories we share, and the communities we connect with across the country.

To make this challenge count, we’ve structured our journey around daily Conversation Stops—moments where we strip off the backpack, grab a cup of tea, and sit down with local groups, schools, and residents to talk about what matters most.

The Plan (And Why It’s Written in Pencil, Not Pen!)

Below is our working 14-day schedule. To cover roughly 46 miles a day while leaving dedicated time for conversations, we’ve split each day into two foot legs:

  • Morning Leg: 6:00 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Midday Conversation Stop: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM (Lunch, local school/group meets)

  • Afternoon Leg: 2:00 PM – 7:30 PM

  • Evening Conversation Stop: 7:30 PM onwards (Town hall events, community dinners, Boxing clubs Q&As)

A Quick Reality Check: While this route gives us a solid roadmap, it is constantly evolving. Weather, road conditions, injury updates, or sudden local invitations mean this schedule will flex as we move. We’ll adapt on the fly based on where the need—and the conversations—take us!

We Need You: Help Us Build a Countrywide Support Team

A journey of this scale takes a village—or in our case, a nationwide network. We cannot do this alone, and we need your help to get the word out.

We are looking for volunteers, supporters, and friendly faces from the tip of Scotland down to Bedfordshire.

Here is how you (and your friends & family) can get involved:

  • Spread the Word: Share this route with family, friends, and colleagues who live near any of our stops. Ask them to reach out to their local networks!

  • Walk a Mile with Us: Join us on foot for a short stretch as we enter or leave your town.

  • Host or Join a Conversation Stop: Help us organize a local venue, staff a water station, or simply turn up to join the chat.

  • Offer Local Support: Lend a hand with local logistics, support vehicle parking, or a hot meal along the route.

Every connection counts. If you have contacts along the path—even just a cousin in Kendal or a friend in Inverness—please send them this page.

Let's make every mile matter together. Keep an eye on our live tracking page as we get closer to launch day, and reach out to get involved today!
